Hubby and I got each other the EXACT same thing for Valentines Day this year.....and we will love/hate each other for it for the rest of our lives.
We both quit smoking on Feb 13, making Feb 14th our first official smoke free day.
Amazingly, we made it through the weekend without killing each other, although we did come close a couple of times.....we both reached the height of crankiness yesterday at lunch...sitting beside each other....in our church....not a good scene. I have never bit my tongue so hard as I did for that excrutiating hour.
They say (whoever "they" are) that the withdrawal symptoms peak at 72 hours and subside after that - well we officially passed the 72 hour mark last night. And we are still married. AMAZING.
Anyhow, I am going to walk away from the keyboard now - I can feel the grumpy-bitter-need to hit something setting in. I am going to go take it out on my laundry.
Happy Belated Valentines/Family/Smokefree weekend to you all.

Congratulations! I smoked for years and quit off and on during pregnancies, but finally quit for good nearly 6 years ago! I can't say that there aren't still days I crave a cigarette, but passing someone in a shop who reeks of cigarette smoke is an awesome incentive to stay smoke-free!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow! I smoked for YEARS and I stopped. You can do it! Just don't beat yourself up if you have a set back and light up. Baby steps. :)
ReplyDeleteGppd for you both! That is such a nasty stinky habit. I recall my uncle was a smoker, as a kid I used to marvel at his yellow finger nails. And when we opened his apartment door how the smell would stop me in my tracks. It made an impression on me for life. I never wanted to pick up a cigerette. I am proud of you for doing it!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you curbed the urge.
Another story, my husband and his twin brother are 38. HIs brother has smoked since highschool (15!!!) He smokes almost 2 packs a day. This past weekend we were all out and a stranger was talking to us. She referred to my brother in law as my husbands older brother. We said, They are twins. She didnt beleive us. She thought he was over 10 years older than my husband.
Soooo, cheers to you for a long life. Stink free (smile), whiter teeth, and many years together with your sweetie. I cant think of a better valentines gift! Good for you!
I wanted to personally thank you for becoming a "follower" of my blog. I am always humbled that anyone would care enough to read it.
Thank you so much-because it led me to your great blog! I love new friends!
Sincerely,

funny, now when I pass a smoker, they REEK! I can't believe I ever smelled that bad! Why didn't anyone tell me? Oh, wait, you did. DUH.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me now that I ever thought I was hiding it from anyone. I mean come on - that smell is BAD!
So glad I quit though....not so glad that I have gained 6 pounds since quitting, but then again, my spring marathon training is right around the corner so hopefully that will be a non-issue.
Thanks for all the support guys!
